First and foremost, does your loved one know Jesus as Lord and Savior? If not, that needs to be the focus of your prayers. You see, God wants everyone to accept the gift He gave when He sent His only Son to die for our sins (John 3:16, 2 Peter 3:9). He is our only hope.
In this we see God's perfect will and His permissive will. Does God want everyone to accept Jesus? Yes! Will everyone accept Jesus? Sadly, no.
Will everyone who accepts Jesus as the all-sufficient, one-time sacrifice for all of our sin always seek Him first (Matthew 6:33)? Obviously not, hence this site.
Does that mean that those caught in the trap of homosexuality will go to hell? I don't believe so if they have first been saved by the atoning sacrifice, the blood of Jesus. 1 Corinthians 6 says: 9) Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10) nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11) And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. We, as Christians, are quick to point out the sins that are so obvious to us as listed in verses 9 and 10 while I'm sure we have participated in some of those ourselves. Who hasn't put something before God (idol) in our lives? That would make us idolators. However, these sins aren't listed in order of severity. They're all equal to God. Sin is sin. Yes, some have much worse consequences in our bodies, minds, and how they affect others, but the bottom line is that it's ALL sin. What's important here is verse 11. "And such WERE some of you, BUT..."
Our loved ones are caught in the trap of the enemy. They've taken the Bait of Satan (John Bevere) hook, line, and sinker. They're caught, and they're caught deeply. If you've ever gone fishing, you know that the deeper you set the hook in the fish's mouth, the harder it is for it to get away. Many a fish has been hooked and gotten away because we fail to set the hook deeply. We don't jerk the line fast enough or hard enough. That's likely not the case with our loved ones caught in the lies of the enemy this time. He's been baiting them maybe all their lives. They've taken that bait a little at a time and perhaps escaped being caught many times. But he's persistent and relentless. He's caught them this time, and they feel there is no way out. His only purpose is to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10a), and he's an expert.
At this point, is there hope? YES! John 10:10a is just the beginning. John 10:10b is the really important part. Jesus says here that He has come that we may have life and have it more abundantly. We're not to just barely get by. We are to have abundant life and to be overcomers! Look at all the scripture that backs that up: John 16:33, 2 Peter 2:20, 1 John 4:4, 1 John 5:4-5. Another of my favorite, but often misquoted, verses is 1 Corinthians 10:13: No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
Be encouraged! There is hope in what looks like a hopeless situation. Find God's promise to you and hang on for dear life! God is faithful even when we're not.
